Steel scrap is derived from industrial yards, the residue from the manufacture, centers for the treatment of waste and from the acquisition of residents. Steel scrap is divided into the iron part and sheet iron. Iron part is subdivided into the old iron and new iron scrap.

In the recycling process scrap materials are divided into several subgroups that differ in size and thickness of materials and dimensions to which they are cut for the customer requirements. There are other subgenres by the steel waste and gray cast iron, stainless steel and sheet metal transformer.
